Jackshafts
A jackshaft is required when a wider rear wheel is used and the chain alignment from the transmission to the rear wheel sprocket no longer align and an offset is required.
With the HD big twin motors and transmissions the aftermarket has a right side drive transmission as well offset transmission plates to rectify this concern.
Unit motors such as Sportsters and metric models have no separate transmission like with a HD big twin, and to shift the motor over to achieve alignment with the rear wheel sprocket causes imbalance issues.
The jackshaft is also neat way of putting a little personal touch on your build. You can change the side of the chain for the final drive, as illustrated in the pictures below.
The Cycle One jackshaft can only be used with chain drive models running 530 chain and allows you to retain the factory motor position in the frame.
Both jackshafts by Cycle One provide a method for adjustment of the primary chain, and the frame axle adjusters provide adjustment for the final drive chain.
The standard jackshaft is used and mounted between the seat post and rear fender and is used in rigid applications where no swingarm pivot bolt is used. - Note the sprockets are positioned inboard for shipping
$ 295.00
Rigid application using standard jackshaft
For a softail or swingarm frame the pivot bolt style jackshaft is brilliantly designed to work in the space allotted for the swingarm pivot bolt
$ 550.00
Swingarm pivot bolt style jackshaft
Rear Drive Width

- 130mm standard - included in frame price
- 200mm rear width** - $ 30.00
- 250mm rear width** - $ 60.00
- 300mm rear width** - $ 90.00
- 330mm rear width** - $ 120.00
- 360mm rear width** - $ 150.00
** some wide tire applications require jackshaft assemblies or outboard bearing assemblies.
*** Note: is you donor was factory equipted with a larger than 130 wheel size, the OEM size is used as standard.
Rear Stretch
Rear stretch can be added to the rear fork section of a rigid frame, hardtail section or swingarm in 2” increments up to a total of 8”.
And is available for most models using chain final drive.
Rear stretch is achieved by positioning the axle plates further away from the motor.
This results in an elongated seat area, allowing the rider to sit further back in the seat and gain some distance from the foot controls.
Stretching a swingarm will not necessarily provide additional leg room but does provide a little smoother ride due to the extended chassis length.
2” = $ 35.00
4” = $ 70.00
6” = $ 105.00

Ride Height
Ride height is the approximate number of inches below the bottom frame rails to the ground with the bike in an upright position.
4” of ride height is the industry standard used historically with v twin engines and is the standard for the Cycle One rigid frames and hardtail sections.
5” or more of ride height is recommended when using a 4 cylinder powertrain or when the planned will exhaust hang down lower than the bottom frame rails.
